Its spicy, sour, and the earthy flavor works well with chicken maqluba, fish, and stew. You can simply grind some paprika and use ginger, ground coriander, and a pinch of salt to make a substitution. If you don’t have any of these, don’t worry – you can still find a smoky, aromatic blend online.

“If you can’t find ras el Hanout, then you can also try garam masala. It is a blend of turmeric, nutmeg, and other spices, and it can be substituted for ras el Hanout in some recipes. The spice is a staple in Morocco and is used in cooking chicken, beef, lamb, and fish.”
